A Memo from the Board to all Employees

This is a suggested template for a letter from the Board to their colleagues announcing a culture change initiative.

Dear Colleague

We aspire to be a Responsible Business

Alongside you all, the Board wants our company to play its part in resolving some of the problems facing our society and the world. With this purpose in mind, we are embarking on a programme where, collectively, we look at areas where our culture may fall short of being a responsible business and make any necessary adjustments and changes. We want you all to be involved in its creation. With this objective in mind, we are forming a Culture Change Committee with “ANO” as Chair.

As a good corporate citizen, our strategy, with your help, is to be a Responsible Business giving priority equally to people, planet and profit (and other commercial objectives) where;

We all treat each other and our other business connections fairly and respectfully.
Our ethical decision-making, focussing on doing only good, is firmly embedded into our DNA through our Company Values and Code of Ethics.
We all have good jobs, feel valued and empowered and work in a safe environment that prioritises good mental, physical and moral well-being.
We will reduce our negative impact on the climate and the environment by setting bold and ambitious targets, meeting these targets and encouraging all our stakeholders to do likewise.
We have fair and transparent processes of governance based on fair pay and equal opportunities for all.
We are encouraged and enabled to thrive and lead a balanced life.
We all feel that our jobs have a social purpose which contributes to the well-being of the world.

This process, which will begin immediately, will be supported morally and financially by the Board, will be people-centric and involve everyone who wishes to contribute to the process.
